Our Story

Located in the heart of America's Midwest, our director, Ellen Blackman, has spent the past fourteen years successfully helping families connect to this most important of employees, the family caregiver. In 1994, upon her return to Chicago from a one year long pro-bono humanitarian sabbatical stint in Sarajevo, Bosnia, during the height of the Bosnian conflict (See backgronud articles), Ellen continued her pro-bono work in the States by helping several United Nations agencies as well as local Chicago Churches help settle Bosnian refugee green card holders into domestic jobs. Soon after, Ellen began her own private recruiting-H.R consulting company, providing complete support staff for homes and larger estates with legal candidates of all ethnic backgrounds, including of course American born citizens who were in need of work.

It wasn't long before she was sought out to recruit child and home-care givers by many of Chicago's finest families. Known simply back in the early days in 1994 as "the nanny consultant", the company's reputation for being service oriented i.e. working one -on -one with the family in the search process to find the right candidate "fit", coupled with its one year replacement guarantee and generous working trials spread word of mouth from family -to- family throughout Chicago and its outlying suburbs; and eventually from state- to- state.

Although the range of service has grown, the company's high standards and service oriented policy remain intact. Every candidate is personally screened by Ms. Blackman before final placement. We offer a unique custom designed search in which we work one- on- one with you to find that right fit for you. Generous working trials are still key, and, of course, as always the policy of the one year replacement guarantee is still honored. For all final placements, a criminal background check is the norm and if driving privileges are involved, a state driver's license check ( motor vehicle records check or MVR).
