Every candidate is required to have both personal & professional references and submit to an in depth interview during which they must answer questions about themselves. Aside from sharing with us their job history and providing us with a list of references and contact phone numbers for these references (written reference letters are not enough), we also want to know who the references are because after all they are the ones giving the judgment call on the candidate. So we always ask our candidates to tell us where their references live and what they do for a living. Each candidate must also sign off that they have a clean criminal history record and driving record, as well as agree to take a full disclosure criminal background check and MVR (motor vehicle records) driver's license check.

As follow-up, all final candidates are given a detailed and thorough criminal background check by a professional security agency. We have used CLS Background Investigations with great success for the past many years. Their background checks go back ten years and include a local county (where the candidate lives) court house record search by hand as well as a national data base search for criminal convictions and sexual abuse. In addition, they also trace and confirm the social security number as valid or not valid and list all addresses the candidate has lived at for the past ten years, along with any alias names and phone numbers associated with that social security number. The MVR drivers license check which reveals if the drivers license is in good standing will disclose all details including state of issue, date of issue, any driving restrictions, as well as a specific list of any moving traffic violations (their dates) along with any suspensions in the past.
